The Call to Worship and Invocation
Welcome, friends, to this holy day.We come to offer thanks; we come to sing and pray.
Welcome, friends, to this time set apart, a time to remember those we love, and time to remember the holy promises of God. Welcome, friends, to this table of remembrance and joy, The table where we are fed, the feast we share with many. Welcome, friends, and let us worship God. This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Morning Hymn -- Pass Me Not
Performed by Bishop David L. Ellis
Scripture Reading -- 1 Timothy 6:6-19
6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.
7 For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it.
8 But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.
9 Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.
10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
11 But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. 12 Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses. 13 In the sight of God, who gives life to everything, and of Christ Jesus, who while testifying before Pontius Pilate made the good confession, I charge you
14 to keep this command without spot or blame until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,
15 which God will bring about in his own time—God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords,
16 who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To him be honor and might forever. Amen.
17 Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.
18 Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.
19 In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.
Gloria Patri
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen.
Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried;
The third day he rose from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty, from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the Holy Catholic Church, the Communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.
Altar Call/Pastoral Prayer -- Is Your All on the Altar
Performed by Bishop Gilbert Earl Patterson
We are praying for you:
Rev. Keith Johnson, Octavian Rodriquez, Angelikka Carter, James Spaulding, Rev. and Mrs. Braxton, Dwaine Giggans,
Johnie Mae Williams, Christine Ferguson, Rev. Michael Henderson, Rev. Veronica Buckner, Betty Jo Smith, the Family of Ernest Woodard
Loving and Gracious God, Father, we thank You for the restoration of our past glory in Jesus name.
Father we have fallen short of your Word, and we pray for Your forgiveness and for the all-round restoration in our lives through this prayer.
We are ashamed and command that all evil unknown forces organized against our lives to be scattered. We bind the spirit of stagnation, frustration and disillusionment in our lives. We lean and depend on You to open doors and let the light of Your Spirit shine through us.
Father, please have mercy on those who are suffering in these days of the pandemic; bless and keep those who have been stricken by the disease and strengthen their families, friends, and caretakers. We pray for Tracy and Rev. Vincent Parker and other bereaved members of the family of Ernest Woodard.
As we face the next second, the next, minute, the next hour, the next day -- we pray that your Loving Hand will protect us. It is only the hedge that you keep around us that protects us from this world's ills and we magnify and glorify Your Precious Name. Thank You, God for every blessing. In Jesus Name we pray this prayer. Amen.
