HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY
The Call to Worship and Invocation
This is the day that the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it. On this Mother's Day, we thank our Heavenly Father for the life and love of every mother. We praise Your Name for the blessings that You so richly bestowed upon us. Amen.
Morning Hymn -- Oh, How I Love Jesus
Performed by Pastor E. Dewey Smith
Gloria Patri
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Amen.
The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried;
The third day he rose from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty, from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the Holy Catholic Church, the Communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.
Scripture Reading -- 1 John 5:1-5, 11 (6th Sunday in Eastertide)
5 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.
2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Amen.

Dear Heavenly Father,
It is again Heavenly Father that we approach Thy throne of grace. We come with adoration and thanksgiving for all your blessings and grace towards us. We are not worthy to gather up the crumbs from under your Holy table, yet you feed us and fulfill all our needs.
First Church thanks you for the mothers in our church. We thank you for the gift of motherhood. We praise and thank your namr for those women who have not birthed a child, but serve as mothers.
Dear Jesus, we pray your forgiveness for all our sins, individually and collectively, as we all have sinned and fallen short of your word. Dear God, please accept our repentant spirit and grant unto us a better understanding of your will and your way. We want to be better disciples and live out your love through our lives.
Now God, some of us are heavy laden today -- death has taken our loved ones and we are sad. Others of us are suffering health issues and financial burdens, but we know that you have all power in your hands and that you will provide our every need. We pray Lord for the desires of our heart and we pray for a stronger determination to serve and follow thee.
Now as we approach this coming week, be with us Lord and give us the strength and courage that we need to face this dying world. We thank you Lord for the healing of our land from the horrible reality of the coronavirus pandemic. Open our eyes that we may see that you are the Living God and besides you there is none other. Let this be our testimony as we move forward in our homes, schools, and places of work and recreation.
These and many other blessings we pray in Jesus holy and righteous name. Amen and thank God.

Luke:
6 And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.
7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
25 Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene.
John:
26 When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son!
27 Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.
