Missionary Society
In concert with the AME Zion Church’s Women’s Home and Oversees Missionary Society, First Church’s Missionary Society activities are designed to “promote growth in the knowledge and understanding of God and His plan of redemption for the world , as revealed through Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit.”
Christian Education
The Christian Education Department of the AME Zion Church was created for the promotion and supervision of the Christian training and development of the entire membership of the denomination. First Church encourages participation of all members – adults, young adults, youth, and children. Sunday School and Bible Study are integral parts of our CED ministry.
Health and Wellness
The Health and Wellness encourages members to develop a healthy eating, exercise and living routine. The Ministry involves the Church in community activities related to health and offers an on-campus Mental Health Resource Desk, providing information on various local physical and mental health resources.
Worship and Arts
First AME Zion's Worship and Arts Ministry includes our choirs and Historical Society. The choirs lift the Name of Jesus through singing traditional and contemporary songs, hymns and spirituals.
The Historical Society updates and maintains the historical records of First Church from its founding in 1864 to the present time.
Hospitality
Hospitality – Ushers, Greeters, Parking, and Kitchen
The Hospitality Ministry embodies the Ushers, Greeters, and Kitchen Ministries. Each of these groups are hospitality ambassadors, enhancing the worship experience by extending warm, loving and inviting hospitality to all who worship with us. Members share exciting times in their fellowship together.
Media
The Media Ministry works to assist First Church’s mission to spread the Gospel through involvement in various aspects of today’s information and communications technological environment.
