    The AME Zion Book of Worship explains that the word “ maundy ” means command. It was on this night that Christ instituted, by His command, our continual remembrance of Him and His Work on our behalf when we share in the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper. Maundy Thursday falls on the Thursday before Easter. It honors the Washing of the Feet and Last Supper of Jesus Christ with the Apostles, as described in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, the canonical gospels.
